I was born on Fogo Island in the Cape Verde Archipelago on December 24, 2002. I immigrated to the United States of America when I was 16 years old; soon after I landed in Massachusetts in 2019, I applied for my first job during the summer at a grocery store. The job helped me build fundamentals such as understanding the value of hard work, responsibility, and experience. While working, I went to Brockton High School. My adaptability to the new environment was swift; due to my interest in my future, I had a successful junior and senior academic year, winning the Bilingual Leadership Awards of 2020/2021. Soon after I finished High School, I joined Bridgewater State University. After I spent the first semester, I joined the Military. Joining the Military was the best decision of my life; therefore, I will forever carry the lessons learned from it. My ultimate goal is to become a Software Engineer and help the Brockton community to prosper. I’d love to become an expert in the Software Engineer branch in the long term, but I know the first step is to build a solid foundation and learn the basics in an entry-level role. I currently serve as an Infantryman and a computer science student in the Army National Guard.
